Outline (in English)

【Course Outline】
The theme of this lecture is "The Problem of Evil in Philosophy". We will examine how philosophers have discussed and thought about "evil" from ancient times to the present, and consider its characteristics and specific issues. We will also examine the relationship between "evil" and various contemporary phenomena and social problems.

【Learning Objectives】
The goal of this lecture is for each student to understand how "evil" has been considered or not considered in the history of philosophy and ethics, and to understand what issues and challenges exist when we question "evil" from a philosophical and ethical perspective today.

【Learning Activities Outside of Classroom】
I encourage you to read the relevant texts introduced in class on your own. If you need to prepare for the discussion, we will inform you of this in advance.

【Grading Criteria】
In-class report (50%), evaluation of comments made during discussion (20%), final report (30%).
