Outline (in English)

In this course, students will learn practically the following themes mainly for Chiyoda Ward as one of the study field with a view to the entire urban area.
① The factors that compose urban nature, such as greenery, waterfront, and wildlife.
② The role and function of natural spaces that make up urban areas, such as street trees, parks, urban agriculture, rivers and coasts.
③ The role of human beings to urban nature, such as environmental education, activities at community, corporate activities, citizen activity, landscape creation and maintenance activities.
④ The mechanisms and systems that link urban nature, such as evaluation systems, urban planning and green infrastructure.
The goals of this class are to acquire wide/ deep knowledge and practical thinking ability of the above-mentioned matters.
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the lecture content.
Grading will be decided based on comprehensive evaluations including qualities of presentations, participation in discussions, motivation for learning, contribution to seminar activities(100%).
