[Course outline and learning objective]
Themes of this lecture series are on (1) environment and energy policies in Japan and the world, and (2) approaches for overcoming the challenges for so-called 3Es (Energy Security Enhancement, Economic Efficiency, and Environmental Protection). Those themes will be discussed from Japan’s past experiences/current undertakings as well as other countries’ approaches. Engagement of the international community to such a framework as UNFCCC is also an important theme to be analyzed in this lecture series.
The objectives of this lecture series are:
•to objectively understand the current environment and energy issues with the use of statistical data as well as policies analyses,
•to understand the global environment and energy policies from both historical and current perspectives, and
•to establish views for overcoming those challenges surrounding global environment and energy issues from multilateral/ bilateral approaches as well as Japan’s approaches.
