Outline (in English)

The outline of the lesson is as follows.
1. We will aim for improvement of information literacy
2. We aim to improve the skill of information retrieval.
3. We will make a comprehensive learning opportunity for libraries.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:
Achievement goals for the spring semester
・ Acquire skills to efficiently search information using various databases and tools. As a result, you will be able to pass the searcher level 3.
Achievement goals for the fall semester
・ You will be able to create a pathfinder that can withstand practical use.
・ Through a field trip to the library, you can deepen your understanding of the actual situation of the library.
・ By learning deeply about special libraries, university libraries, and database providers, you will be able to understand what the information profession is. Through learning, you will increase your employability as a librarian.

Learning activities outside of classroom
To take this course, you will need to visit the library and conduct a survey.
① In our class, we plan to visit the National Diet Library, Musashino Place, and the Ohara Institute for Social Research during the summer holidays.
② Visiting tasks for the 23rd Library Fair & Forum are essential. (The above is scheduled as of the end of January)
③ The goal of this subject is to take and pass the search test level 3 (searcher level 3). <= This is strongly related to the content of the lesson. https://www.infosta.or.jp/kensaku-kentei/
④ You need to be always interested in special libraries, university libraries and information centers.
The standard preparatory study / review time for this class is 4 hours.

Grading Criteria /Policy
Term-end assignment (60%)
Normal point (40%)
* The assignments include passing the search test level 3 (searcher level 3). and a fraction of in-class contribution.
