Outline (in English)

Today, where various issues are piled up, when people gather for the purpose of solving the problem, we need to consider place-making where everyone can participate safely and comfortably in order to respect the differences between each other and make use of it as the wealth for new idea and creation.as people are involved in themselves, the issues that are other people's affairs become their own things, and people start to
demonstrate their initiative.in this course, we will learn the "facilitation,” as communication skills and mind for creating participatory place-making which can encourage dialogue and promote collaboration at conferences, workshops and organizational development process.
Learning Objectives
The purpose of this class is to acquire knowledge and techniques for facilitation in meetings, discussions, and other participatory settings. Students will become to understand the definition and effects of facilitation, and acquire skills in dialogue and discussion that will enable meetings, workshops, and discussions to proceed in a meaningful way. In addition, students are expected to understand, through case studies, what kind of wisdom and skills are necessary not only in facilitating discussions, but also in supporting and promoting projects and organizations to solve social issues.
The class will be conducted face to face. The class will proceed through a combination of lectures and exercises according to the designated textbook. Assignments will be submitted and feedback will be provided through the "Learning Support System". The students will share their findings and questions in reaction papers and other materials in the class to create a process where they can learn from each other.
Learning activities outside of classroom
Please be aware of how the kinds of discussions (in club activities, seminars, etc.) and workshops you are currently involved in (fun, meaningful, boring, etc.) are conducted. Also, practice the facilitation skills and ideas you learned in class, and bring your insights and questions to the next class. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
Grading Criteria/Policy
The evaluation will be based on the overall evaluation of participation in the exercises, review sheets, reports, and final examinations. In the former case, students will be asked to write their opinions and impressions on the review sheet as well as their attitude, which will also be evaluated.
Participation in the exercise: 30%, review sheet: 10%, report: 20%, final exam: 40%
