Outline (in English)

1.Course outline
Basic principles in chemical engineering include transport phenomena, chemical reaction engineering, and chemical thermodynamics. This course teaches the fluid flow dynamics and heat transfer usually categorized in transport phenomena. Students will learn basic theories as well as designing and analyzing procedures of real industrial devices used in chemical plants and factories.

2.Learning Objectives
Students understand the behavior of the fluid from the view point of momentum transport and understand also that there is a velocity distribution in the fluid for the first half period. About the energy transport in the second half, students must learn mathematical treatment of three mechanisms of heat transfer in order to design real chemical plat devices, including heat exchangers.

3.Learning activities outside of classroom
Students must solve all the homework problems outside the class and hand in their papers before the due.

4.Grading Criteria /Policy
It depends on the COVID-19 infection situation, i.e.,

a. When we have the final exam: Final exam 50% + Homework 50%
b. When we do not have the final exam: Homework 100%
