Outline (in English)

This course deals with classification, physiology and ecology of agricultural pests. It also enhances the development of students’ skill in diagnosis of plant damages caused by pests as plant clinical scientists.
The goal of this course is to acquire knowledge about pests, which is essential for those who are involved in the diagnosis and control of plant diseases and those who work as engineers, arborists, and natural regeneration specialists. Through this class, students will understand the morphology and taxonomic position of pests, which are the basis for diagnosis, and acquire basic knowledge of the physiology and ecology of pests and natural enemies, which are the basis for various control techniques.
Students are not required to prepare for the class, but are expected to review technical terms using reference books and handouts. For assignments, refer to the relevant books in the library and websites, and try to fully understand what you have learned in the class. Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following
Term-end examination: 50%、Short reports : 30%、attend classes: 20%
