Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
This course introduces the basic physics of the semiconductor materials to understand the characteristics of semiconductor devices.
(Learning Objectives)
At the end of this course, you will be able to understand the energy band structures, the electrical conduction mechanism (drift and diffusion), and the basic operation of the semiconductor devices (PN junction diode, Schottky diode, and bipolar junction transistor).
(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Students will be expected to spend four hours on preparing and reviewing each class.
(Grading Criteria /Policy)
Grading will be decided based on the term-end examination (70%) and the reports (30%). To pass this course, students must earn at least 60 points out of 100.
