Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
1. The students understand the composition / function of the given machine element and the JIS standard, and acquires the ability to select the correct shape and dimension suitable for the design specification.
2. The students should understand the purpose of the parts diagram and assembly drawing, and reflect the related standards in detail to reflect on the drawing.
3. The students draw on drawing methods complying with JIS mechanical drawing standards.
4. The students learn why the drawing is necessary, how the drawings are needed at production fields, R&D fields, and so on.
5. In this course, students draw the mechanical drawing by hand-drawing. Some students may think that "In nowadays, the hand-drawing is nonsense," but the hand-drawn mechanical drawings include many very important elements.
【Learning Objectives】
  At the end of the course, students are expected to learn the mechanical drawing and to acquire a hand drawn mechanical drawing.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
  Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend 4 hours to understand the course content.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
1. Drawings for each assignment: Students are required to submit all assignments.
2. Submission of each assignment: Students are required to adhere to the deadline for submitting assignments.
3. Mid-term and final exams: Students are required to take the mid-term and final exams.
4. Attendance: Absences of 4 times or more are the failing grade.
5. The total score score of 60 or more out of 100 is considered acceptable, provided that above 1 to 4 are adhered to.
