Outline (in English)

Course Outline: This course deals with the issues of imperial Rome, such as the so-called third-century crisis, social mobility in the fourth century, Christianization, and various reactions to declining Roman rule, focusing on Gaul.
Learning Objectives:By the end of the course, students are expected to acquire historical knowledge of the late Roman Gaul and to be able to consider the issues described in Course Outline.
Learning Activities outside of Classroom:Before/ after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Grading Criteria:Grading will be decided based on term-end examination (80%) and in-class contribution (20%).
