Outline (in English)

This course will introduce students to the modern history of Russia from the formation of the Russian empire to the First World War. The Russian world as a type of European political development will be considered.
Students will acquire knowledge about various aspects of the Russian Empire. In doing so they will acquire a perspective to compare and consider the characteristics of modern nations.
Students are expected to read the materials as instructed and prepare for class participation. Preparatory study and review time for this class are 2 hours each.
Assignments (50 %), term paper (50 %)
