Outline (in English)

Outputs of S&T (science and technology) have both positive and negative impacts on society. Conversely, society has impacts on science and technology through funding of research and so on. Thus, S&T and society influence and co-produce each other. We call such process "co-evolution."
STS (Studies on Science,Technolgoy and Society) is engaged in the mission of elucidating this "co-evolution" process and pointing to the problems related to it.
The objective of this course is to provide students with useful concepts to understand such co-evolution process, and to cultivate students' abilities to apply these concepts to concrete examples.
