Outline (in English)

Governments conduct a wide range of economic and other public policies including, for example, the construction of dams and roads, the provision of education services, and the provision of a social security system. While of course there are a large number of areas that are left to the private sector, the question nevertheless is why there are areas in which governments directly and indirectly contribute to the provision of goods and services. This course considers this issue from a microeconomic perspective using welfare analysis.
