Outline (in English)

This class will study the relationship between regions, companies, and "learning at work".
The class will first explain the relationship between the community, local resources, and corporate activities. Then, the role of "learning in the workplace" for the sustainable activities of companies will be studied.
Specific examples of regional companies from around Japan will then be introduced and studied in each class. Time for discussion among students will be provided in class.
Raraya Corporation, which has a factory in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, and the evolution of the school bag industry will be introduced and studied in particular detail. The case study in Aizuwakamatsu is the practice of the organization to which the lecturer belongs.
In the second semester, each student will be asked to research and present a case study of a local company of interest to them.
Those who wish to do so will be given fieldwork, such as a visit to a school bag factory. Last year, fieldwork was conducted at the Daishi Line and Kawasaki Daishi in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The fieldwork was free, and students chose their own fieldwork subjects.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each. Preparation time is for the presentation at the end of the semester. Review time is for the preparation of a reaction paper.
Evaluation will be based on class presentations, comment papers, etc. (80%) and presentation reports (20%).
