The purpose of this course is to provide participants with an active approach to increasing their speaking, listening and writing skills.

授業の進め方と方法Method(s)(学期の途中で変更になる場合には、別途提示します。 /If the Method(s) is changed, we will announce the details of any changes. )
Students receive feedback as follows on each assignment they submit; the teacher evaluates their work with a letter grade as well as written comments on their work and suggestions for any improvements needed. Group work will be aimed at facilitating discussions, and presentations are required. Finally, logically organized paragraph structure will be practiced leading to one short essay. The teacher reserves the right to make changes in the syllabus when necessary.

The typed paragraphs are to be completed before coming to class. Late work without an official documented excuse will result in a lower grade.
University guidelines suggest preparation and review are around 4hours a week for a two-credit course and around an hour a week for a one-credit course.

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
Group work & participation = 30% Paragraphs and essay = 35% Presentations = 35%
There are no tests in this class. Without a train delay slip students will be counted absent if more than 15 minutes late. Maximum of 3 absences. Speaking in English will result in higher participation points. required. Any form of plagiarism is unacceptable. Elaboration on this will be provided in class.
