Outline (in English)
This is a once-a-week English course where students learn how to write clear sentences and paragraphs in English.
The objective of this course is to deepen students’ knowledge about academic writing and develop students' writing skills with improved accuracy, fluency and confidence.
After completing the course, students will be able to:
1. analyze model paragraphs
2. find ideas for their writing
3. put their ideas into sentences
4. organize their sentences into paragraphs
5. review their paragraphs
6. revise their paragraphs so that they become even stronger
Students will be expected to have completed textbook exercises before class and the required assignments after class. Students should expect 1.5 hours or more of homework and study time outside class.
Final grade in the class will be decided based on the following.
Participation: 10%, Vocabulary List: 10%, Quick-Write: 10%, Final Exam: 30%, Major Writing Assignments: 40%

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
英語でパラグラフを作成するために必要な知識とスキルの獲得を目指す。Process approachでパラグラフを書くために必要なステップを学ぶ。具体的にはトピックの選び方、ブレインストーミングの手法、topic sentenceやsupporting sentenceの書き方、ドラフトの書き方、フィードバックの与え方、ドラフトの修正の仕方などを習得する。また、良い英文を書くために必要な文法知識の定着も図る。
到達目標Goal
・授業の予習、復習、ライティング課題を通して、以下のアカデミックライティングの基礎を身につける。
1. モデルパラグラフを正しく分析できる。
2. ライティングに必要なアイディアを創出することができる。
3. 自分の考えをまとめて文章にすることができる。
4. 文章をパラグラフへと発展させることができる。
5. 自分で作成したパラグラフを丁寧に見直すことができる。
6. 自分で作成したパラグラフを修正し、より良いパラグラフを作成することができる。

指定テキストを用いて、ペアワーク・グループワークを積極的に取り入れながらアクティブラーニング形式での授業を行います。 授業中にノートPCかタブレットを用いて作業を行います。毎回の授業に必ずデバイス（ノートPCかタブレット）を持参してください。
課題等に対するフィードバックについては，Google Classroom のコメント欄等で対応します。定期的にGoogle Classroom にアクセスし、教員からのフィードバックを確認するようにしてください。授業内で Google Classroom の使い方を説明します。
