【Outline (in English)】
【Course outline】
The equations that govern the field in a continuum medium (field of electromagnetic field, field of potential / electron / hole in semiconductor, field of mass / momentum / energy of fluid) are expressed in the form of PDEs (Partial Differential Equations). This course focuses on the "convection-diffusion equations," which often appear in science and engineering among PDEs, and explains their computational methods and computational examples, focusing on unsteady problems, while in Computational Engineering 1 (Spring semester) steady-state problems were dealt with. In Computational Engineering 2 (Fall semester), above all, the hyperbolic conservation laws and their modern numerical methods (TVD schemes, WENO schemes, etc.) are also taken up.
【Learning Objectives】
By the end of this course, students should be able to understand computational methods of unsteady problems of the "convection-diffusion equations."
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course contents.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Grading will be decided based on report assignments (100%) on the premise of in-class contribution.
