Outline (in English)

■Course outline
This course introduces the history and social background of the development of sport as a culture up till the present. Students will understand the current status and issues of modern sport from various perspectives. Through these studies, students aim to acquire an education that will be useful when they are involved in various forms of sport in the future, such as "playing", "watching" and "supporting" sport.


■Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
(1) To be able to understand and explain the historical and social background of the development of sport culture with regard to the topics related to the content of each class.
(2) To be able to grasp the current situation and issues related to sport from various perspectives with respect to each topic.

■Learning activities outside of classroom
Your study time will be more than two hours for a class.
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to have read reference books on topics related to the next lecture.
After each class meeting, students will be expected to review the reference books and handouts again, as well as read articles and news related to each class.

■Grading Criteria /Policies
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following
Work in each session: 70%, Term-end examination: 30%
