Outline (in English)

We are going to learn issues around gender and law system in Japan and global struggling to achieve gender equality de facto. Succeeding feminist approaches derived in 1970’s, we should be critical to review present law system which has been built by only male for last 2 centuries. Our topics are not only for women, but also for men and LGBTIQA or other sexual minorities.

【Learning Objectives】
1. To know what gender discrimination is like and how to solve the problems from international perspectives.
2. To make a better argument with respectfulness involving diversity.
3. To reach a solution that is fair and based on facts without gender biases.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
1. Reading textbook and making your own answer about each topic are recommended for 2 hours each before and after the lecture.
2. Submitting reaction paper after every lecture.
3. Make or join arguments in a forum on the class website.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
1. In-class contribution(20%): how your participation of arguments among students in a forum on the class website was.
2. Reaction paper on each lecture(30%): how you understood every lecture was.
3. Reports of some important issues (3-4 times required)(50%): how you explained and presented your thought about gender law issues.
