Outline (in English)

Course outline:In this course, students learn the basics of classical Latin grammar. Classical Latin is a language used from the first century B.C. to the first century A.D., and on the model of it many generations after them have written their works in Latin. So Latin is very important to understand Western culture.
Learning Objectives:The goals of this course are to learn the basic Latin grammar, and to be able to read standard Latin sentences.
Learning activities outside of classroom:Before each class meeting, students will be expected to translate the Latin sentences of the exercises into Japanese, and after each class meeting, to review the translations. The study time for your preparations and reviews will be 2 hours for each class.
Grading Criteria:I will evaluate the results of the exercises (50%) and the exam (50%) .
