Outline (in English)

Course outline
This is a course designed to study the transformation of corporate governance and corporate social responsibility practiced in firms, organizations, and networks. This course provides an overview of corporate social responsibility(CSR), especially focused on the role of the socially responsible investment fund.
The main objectives of the course are:
・understand concepts of corporate social responsibility;
・understand corporate ESG(Environmental, Social and Governance)policies and actions and investors’ preferences;
・enable the development of a sound understanding of corporate governance practice in Japan.

Learning Objectives
After completing this course, the students will be able to:
・understand the concepts related to Business, Society and Stock market;
・examine the scope and complexity of corporate social responsibility (CSR);
・analyze the connections between corporate strategy and CSR and the impact on foundational organizational principles such as mission and vision.

Learning activities outside of classroom
The students should expect to allocate time outside of class to meet with their team members to discuss/prepare assignments.

Grading Criteria /Policy
The students will be graded based on the following criterions:
・50% Class participation;
・50% Group work/Case studies/Presentations.
