Outline (in English)

In this seminar, students will learn the technical knowledge of their field, and prepare for working on their graduation theses. Specifically, students observe a state of implementation of measures to write thesis and join a tour of construction site in order to learn how to proceed with their studies, how to use practical technique. In addition, students will train their composition ability by writing reports. From a seminar of career design, students will study the role of engineer and then consider their career paths. Students will consider their course to take the career to pursue after graduation by using the experience stories instructed by the graduate, engineer, or staff in civil engineering industry who plays an active part in society. Furthermore, a debate will be held in this class to develop presentation skills and communication skills. Through this debate, students will analyze, examine, arrange the points at issue of recent social problems and they collect their thoughts on each problem. These experiments can bring up student’ communication ability.
The goal is to acquire research and analysis skills and communication skills.
Grades will be based on reports on the theme.
Students who are absent more than four times will not be allowed to receive credit (D grade).
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
