Outline (in English)

This course allows students to learn the aims, roles, and formulation methods of transportation plans. For this purpose, students will understand motion characteristics of persons and objects, characteristics of different means of transportation, transportation demand forecasting using person trip surveys, structure standards of transportation facilities, characteristics of traffic flow, and traffic capacity.
Understand the significance of transportation and the history of transportation development
To understand the transition of transportation policy.
Understand the nature of transportation and the basics of operational technology
To understand the nature of transportation and the basics of its operation technology ・To learn how to solve urban transportation problems
To understand the traffic volume survey, actual traffic condition survey and traffic demand estimation (stepwise estimation method)
Understand the significance of transportation and the history of transportation development

Term end examination : 60%, Short reports : 40%
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content
