Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
In this course students will learn basic knowledge on biology and chemistry necessary for solving various problems in design engineering.
【Learning Objectives】
Students will acquire knowledge about the current relationship between humans and nature, including changes in ecosystems caused by human activities, benefits received from living organisms and ecosystems, and the current status of nature and biological conservation activities, as well as understand the basic concepts of chemistry required in design engineering and the role of chemistry in design engineering. In addition, students will deepen their understanding of the possibilities of the design engineering field and acquire the thinking methods necessary to solve familiar problems.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students are required to check the syllabus contents in advance, prepare for the lecture materials to be made available on the class support system, do the exercises in the class, and review the exercises performed. The standard preparation and review time per class is 2 hours each, for a total of 4 hours.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
The evaluation standard is a maximum of 100 points, with a score of 60 points or higher being considered a passing grade. The final evaluation will be based on the sum of 30% for in-class exercises and 70% for the final exam. Students who are absent more than four times will not receive credit.
