Outline (in English)

Geological engineering is a discipline combining geology and civil engineering. In this course, we will introduce the fundamentals of geotechnics (or geotechnical engineering) necessary for engineers involved in projects of social infrastructure, such as construction of dams, tunnels and bridges, which are mainly classified as civil engineering structures, and the knowledge to apply them.
At the end of the course, students are expected that understand the importance of ground evaluation in each process of survey, design and construction, and its method and contents.
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Grading will be decided based on evaluating by submitting exercises to be conducted in each lecture. No final exam will be held.
