Outline (in English)

It has been produced a lot of sociological studies on discourses, which are based on a variety of theories and methodologies including
social constructionism, Foucauldian discourse analysis, and text-mining using natural linguistic processing. Each study can be reviewed
not only its originality but also the validity of analytical procedure and the ontological/epistemological assumption about the relationship
between discourse and society.
The aim of the class is to gain a basic understanding of what sorts of sociological methodologies of analysis of discourse there are and
what presumption and limit each one has. Participants are supposed to read designated texts, to take part in discussions on them actively,
and to engage in a trial work.
Participants are not required an experience of studying discourses.
