Outline (in English)

The aim of this course deals with Japanese colonial rule and the history of Japanese anthropology. The goal of this course is to learn the relationship between Japan’s ruling policies toward her colonies and the historical development of Japanese anthropology. Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content. Grading will be decided based on briefing paper and report (30%) and in class contribution (70%).
