Outline (in English)
（Course outline）The subject of this seminar is to analyse "Traditional Europe" (from the middle 17th century to the end of 18th century in Ⅱ) before the establishment of modern sovereign states, and covers "constitutional history" in a broad sense (political systems, national symbols, intergroup structures, influence of religions and sects, politics). Discusses the development of ideas, dominant methods of communication and expression, dominant systems of aesthetic sense, etc. The main targets will be Western Central Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Austria and adjacent areas) and Northern Italy.
（Learning Objectives）By going back to the stage of traditional Europe that preceded modern history in a narrow sense, and understanding the various possibilities for order formation in the region, we can grasp the structural factors that cannot be solved by modern history in a narrow sense, and develop the ability to come up with ideas to solve difficult problems in modern history.
（Learning activities outside of classroom）Students will spend two hours preparing for each session by reading the historical materials and doing preliminary research on the historical background of their establishment and historical materials from the same period, and two hours of review in which they will reread the historical materials and reinterpret them based on the conditions of the time.
（Grading Criteria /Policy）Normal score (preparation, answers to various questions related to understanding the background and improving historical material reading ability, etc.): 100 points

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
ヨーロッパ近現代政治史研究Ⅰに引き続き、近代主権国家成立以前の伝統的ヨーロッパ（Ⅱは17世紀半ば～18世紀末）を対象とし、広い意味での「国制史」（政治制度、国家的象徴、団体間構造、国家・政治思想、支配的なコミュニケーションや表現方法、美意識の支配システムなど）の発展を論じる。主な対象は西中欧（ドイツ・スイス・オーストリアおよびその隣接地域）および北イタリアとする。
到達目標Goal
狭義の近現代史に先行する伝統的ヨーロッパの段階に遡って当該地域の秩序形成のさまざまな可能性を理解することにより、狭義の近現代史だけでは解決不可能な構造的要因を把握し、近現代史の難問を解決するための着想に到達できる力を養う。

テーマとなる問題に関わる文字史料を提示し、それに関する受講者の知見や認識を一通り確認した後、近年の歴史学研究の立場ではその史料がどう解釈されているか、それはなぜかを紹介し、それについて根拠を伴った検討と批評を実施してもらう。今期は1600年代半ば～1900年代初頭の国家と人間の関係の変化について。史料は授業の展開によって変更もある。

授業の目的と課題の内容を詳しく説明し、次回の史料を配布します（常時原文と和訳をお渡しします）。
第2回[対面/face to face]：P.B.ボルゴ「ジェノヴァ共和国の統治権原について」（一部／1646年）の分析
中世に事実上独立した北イタリアの共和国の統治権について論じた史料を読み、その背景を分析します。
第3回[対面/face to face]：第2回史料の検討
当該史料を検討することにより、独立の近世国家の共同体や市民の概念に、国家を超えて中世の伝統がいかに作用したかを考察します。
第4回[対面/face to face]：「オスナブリュック講和条約」（ウェストファリア条約の一部, 一部／1648年／一部）の分析
近代主権国家体制を築いたとされる講和条約の一部を読み、その背景を分析します。
第5回[対面/face to face]：第4回史料の検討
17世紀半ばに本当に主権国家体制が築かれたのか、そしてその解釈にはどのような歴史学の問題が隠されているのかを分析します。
第6回[対面/face to face]：S.プーフェンドルフ「ドイツ帝国の状態について」（1667年／一部）の分析
主権国家の形成から取り残されたとされる西中欧の状態と、その解決法を論じた同時代史料の一部を読み、その背景を分析します。
第7回[対面/face to face]：第6回史料の検討
当該史料の検討を通じて、伝統社会と社会契約理論の出会いから生じた次世代の秩序の構想を読み取ります。
第8回[対面/face to face]：「テルツ特許状」(1705年)の分析
近世後期から近代に見られる素朴な君主愛と地域的な排外主義の芽生えを示す史料を読み、その背景を分析します。
第9回[対面/face to face]：第8回史料の検討
当該史料の検討を通じて、伝統的共同体の変容と民衆アイデンティティ形成の関係を考察します。
第10回[対面/face to face]：F.Ch.ラウクハルト『ドイツ人の見たフランス革命』(1792-1802年／一部)の分析
フランス革命を目の当たりにしたドイツの一兵士の認識と衝撃に関するテキストを読み、その背景を分析します。
第11回[対面/face to face]：第10回史料の検討
当該史料の検討を通じて、西中欧に芽生えた西欧近代社会への認識と自らの伝統との折り合いについて考察します。
第12回[対面/face to face]：E.カント『人倫の形而上学』(1797年／一部)の分析
法治社会を制度ではなく人間の義務であることにこだわり、自由と法を不可分のものとする18世紀末の哲学者の法論と、その背景を分析します。
第13回[対面/face to face]：第12回史料の検討
「もう一つのヨーロッパ」が、いかなる近現代への問いかけを発しているかを考察します。
第14回[対面/face to face]：総括と展望
近世後半の史料分析を通じて、近世自身の伝統と近代に解決された問題、残された課題とは何かを総括します。
授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
各回の史料を読み、その成立の歴史的背景および同時代の史料について下調べをする予習を2時間、その史料を読み直して時代的条件によって根拠づけられた再解釈を行う復習を2時間行う。
テキスト（教科書）Textbooks
教科書は用いません。史料を事前に配布し、予習に必要な文献はその都度指示します。復習に必要な文献は受講者の関心と問題意識に合わせて適宜紹介します。
