Outline (in English)
This craft course focuses on persona poems. What does it mean to speak in a voice that is different from your own? How does it expand your sense of self? While tracing the evolution of the genre within the English-language literary tradition, we will write our own persona poems and explore modes of self-expression that go beyond autobiographical writing.
There will be some lectures, but most of the class time will be devoted to students' active participation. Students will receive feedback on their work in class, via Hoppii, and during office hours. The format of this class in a given week could change, depending on the Covid situation. Grades will be determined based on presentations (30%), participation (30%), and the final paper (40%).

この授業では、英語圏の大学の創作科で教えられている craft course に倣い、文学のある技法に焦点を当て、その技法を掘り下げながら実際に英語で創作する。秋学期は persona poem と呼ばれる、作者本人ではない話者を想定した詩を読んでいく。

英語圏の代表的な persona poems を読み、歴史的背景・文化的背景を学びつつ創作に活かす。 作品の細部を主題に結びつけて論じる力を身につける。クラス全体でディスカッションし、スピーキング力を養う。
