Outline (in English)
This craft course focuses on ekphrasis, a technique where writers draw inspiration from visual arts to create their work. While tracing the evolution of ekphrasis within the English-language literary tradition, we will write our own ekphrastic poems. Additionally, we will explore genre distinctions and push the boundaries of verbal art through cross-genre experimentation.
There will be some lectures, but most of the class time will be devoted to students' active participation. Students will receive feedback on their work in class, via Hoppii, and during office hours. The format of this class in a given week could change, depending on the Covid situation. Grades will be determined based on presentations (30%), participation (30%), and the final paper (40%).

この授業では、英語圏の大学の創作科で教えられている craft course に倣い、文学のある技法に焦点を当て、その技法を掘り下げながら実際に英語で創作する。春学期はエクフラシスと呼ばれる、絵画や写真のような視覚芸術をベースにした詩を読んでいく。

英語圏の代表的なエクフラシスを読み、歴史的背景・文化的背景を学びつつ創作に活かす。 作品の細部を主題に結びつけて論じる力を身につける。クラス全体でディスカッションし、スピーキング力を養う。
