Outline (in English)
Kant's Antinomy in the <Critique of Pure Reason shows how Kant's original transcendental idealism has a dramatic effect on the solution of fundamental problems in philosophy. This philosophical discussion will require deep reflection on the finite and the infinite, necessity and freedom, and the Absolute. In the fall semester, we will further examine the specific antinomy by reading issues in the first and second antinomies and clarifying from the texts how the issues are resolved. In the seminar, students will also improve their reading comprehension of German texts. However, even if you are not in charge of translating the German text, you can still participate in the seminar by using Japanese or English translations and writing resumes and reports.
[Learning Objectives]
Students will acquire the following attitudes, skills, and knowledges regarding Kant's classical texts.
(1) To go back to the original text and uncover the thinker's thoughts themselves.
(2) To deepen their understanding of the subject by discovering, investigating, and considering questions.
(3) To formulate more persuasive opinions by referring to the opinions of others.
(4) To compare and contrast ideas from the text with other ones.
(5) To communicate the contents of reports in a clear and correct manner.
(6) Participants translating a German text should be able to read and understand the original German text accurately.
(7) Participants who primarily use Japanese, English, or other translated texts can accurately read the meaning of the translated text and technical terms.
[Learning activities outside of classroom]
Preparatory study (2 hours): Students in charge of translation will prepare a translation. Participants read and understand the translated texts and comments delivered in advance.
Review and homework (2 hours): Students in charge of protocol should prepare a resume for review. Students will read the review resume and comments shared in advance to confirm their understanding.
[Grading Criteria /Policy]
(1) 70% of the evaluation will be based on the following aspects: the comprehension of source texts, the ability to find, investigate and consider problems, the communication skills for exchanging opinions, the ability to compare ideas, and the completion of the protocol (summary of the previous session).
(2) 30% of the evaluation will be based on the level of achievement level of the final report.

カント『純粋理性批判』を読む
― 批判哲学の原点としての二律背反論 ―
カントの『純粋理性批判』の二律背反論（アンチノミー論）では、カント独自の超越論的観念論が、哲学の根本問題の解決のために、どのような劇的効果を有するのか、が示されています。この哲学的議論には、有限と無限、必然性と自由、絶対者についての深い考察が要求されます。秋学期には、具体的な二律背反として、第一と第二の二律背反論での問題を読み解き、その問題の解決がどのように為されるのかをテキストから明らかにして、さらに検討を加えます。なお、ゼミではドイツ語テキストの読解力も研鑽します。ただし、ドイツ語テキストの訳読担当はしなくても、邦訳書や英訳書を用いて参加し、レジュメやレポートを作成することにより、ゼミに参加できます。
到達目標Goal
カントの古典的テキストに関して、次のような態度・技能・知識を身につける。
（１）原典テキストへ立ち返り、思想家の思想そのものを掘り起こす。
（２）対象について、疑問点を発見、調査、考察して、理解を深める。
（３）他人の意見も参照して、いっそう説得力のある意見を形成する。
（４）テキストから掘り起こした思想と他の思想とを比較対照できる。
（５）レポートにおいて、内容を分かりやすく、しかも正しく伝えられる。
（６）ドイツ語テキストを訳読する参加者は、ドイツ語原典を正確に読み解ける。
（７）日本語、英語その他の翻訳書を主に用いる参加者は、訳文や専門語の意味を正確に読める。

事前に訳読担当者は訳読文をPDFでゼミ内に配布する。そしてプロトコル（前回のまとめ）担当者は前回の復習用レジュメをゼミ内に配布する。その後にゼミ本番では次のように進行する。
（１）最初に前回ゼミのプロトコル担当者の発表があり、これについての質疑応答をする。
（２）テキストの訳読を進め、適宜参考資料も用いて、質疑応答により、ドイツ語文章の内容の理解を深める。
（３）テキストに秘められた思想を読み取って話し合い、その思想について考えを深める。
（４）ドイツ語の初学者も、プロトコルやレポート発表などで積極的に参加する。
（５）ドイツ語以外の訳書による参加者は、ドイツ語の訳読と、他国語訳（日本語訳も含む）の翻訳文との相異点を指摘して、その相異の意味を考える。
（６）初めてカントのテキストに挑戦する人も、初歩的な質問をして基本理解をゼミ内で共有する。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
「到達目標」欄の記載内容を踏まえて、原典テキストの読解力、問題の発見、調査、考察、理解力、コミュニケーションによる思想形成力、諸思想を比較する力、レポート作成力、語学力などに関して、次の２方面から評価する。
（１）プロトコル（前回のまとめ）発表、テキスト読解や質疑応答で観察される到達目標達成度（70％）
（２）期末レポート課題で確認される到達目標達成度（30％）
