Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This course aims to enable students to understand and analyze international development cooperation from the aspects of "culture". It includes the background which requires international cultural cooperation, the impacts of international cooperation on culture and the impacts of culture on international cooperation.

【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:
1) to explain the concept of the technical terms covered at the class
2) to discuss international development cooperation from the viewpoints of intercultural communication.
3) to read and analyze the relevant literatures critically.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Before each class meeting, students will be expected to have read the relevant literature assigned, and after the class, students will be expected to have completed the required assignments. Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.

【Grading Criteria / Policy】
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following
1) Extent of understanding about the assigned literature including the presentation based on your reading: 60%
2) Short reports on your own research: 20%
3) In class contribution: 20%
