Outline (in English)

(Course Outline)
This course deals with the basic concepts of nation-state and ethnic minority. It also deals with the relationship between culture and identity of ethnic groups, indigenous people, refugees in the United States, Canada, Mainland China and Taiwan.
(Learning Objectives)
At the end of the course, students are expected to (1)obtain basic knowledge about ethnic groups, indigenous people, refugees of North America and China, (2) enhance the concept of cross-cultural understanding and multicultural coexistence.
(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Before each class meeting, participants will be expected to have read the relevant chapter(s) from the text and prepared a resume . Your required study time is two hours for each class meeting. Your study time will be two hours.
(Grading Criteria/Policy)
Final grade will be calculated according to the following process: in-class contribution(70%)and term-end report(30%).
