Outline (in English)

Course outline
Field School and Representational Culture Course will be held in 2024. This course has been held in Southeast Asian countries in previous years.
The structure of this year's class will be a combination of online (on-demand) classes taken in Japan and fieldwork conducted by traveling to Manila, Philippines.
In this class, students will learn through experience about interactive cultural understanding and communication based on multiple perspectives and ways of thinking through working with people from different lifestyles and cultural backgrounds on Philippine culture and art. This year's theme is 'Intervention Art'. While touring the streets and cultural institutions of Manila, the course will explore methods of artwork that intervene in the city.
The course focuses on workshops that relate cultural activities such as art, theatre, and film to environmental and social issues in Southeast Asia and the Philippines. Everyone interested in Southeast Asian culture is welcome to attend. The teacher in charge is Tatsuo Inagaki.

Hosei University's Representation Culture Course focuses on performing arts such as art and music, theatre and dance, video works such as movies, and literature such as textual novels and poetry. It will be carried out under the same theme.

For each instructor related to each cultural activity living in the Philippines, the course focuses on workshops that relate the environmental and social issues of the Philippines to cultural activities such as art, theater, and movies.

Learning Objectives
Through lectures and workshops by researchers, journalists, NPO operators, art curators, artists living in the Philippines, and fieldwork in Tokyo with the theme of the Philippines, Filipino culture and people's lives, art such as theatre and contemporary art, The goal is to deepen the understanding of expression and cultural policy.

Learning activities outside of the classroom
The content delivered on the Google site contains many website links to deepen your learning, so we recommend browsing the ones that interest you. There are also many museums and galleries near the university. Depending on the infection status of the new coronavirus, please watch exhibitions.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

Grading Criteria /Policy
Grades will be evaluated based on class activities, assignments, and reports. We emphasize the experimentality and positiveness of our efforts. The scoring ratio is as follows.
1. Initiatives for classes (50%)
2. Issues and reports (50%)
See rubrics for specific assessment guidelines.
Based on this grade evaluation method, those who have achieved 60% or more of the achievement target of this class will be accepted.
