Outline (in English)
This course aims to help students develop their written English skills through discussion and writing exercises. Using the textbook as a starting point for class discussion and homework writing exercises, we will aim to improve students vocabulary and use of grammatical structures. The class encourages active learning and class discussion in order to improve confidence and fluency. Students can expect immediate class feedback from their peers and the instructor, and can obtain more detailed feedback privately from the instructor via email.

このコースは、ディスカッションやライティング演習を通じて、学生が英語の文章スキルを向上させることを目指しています。教科書をクラスディスカッションや宿題のライティング演習の出発点として使用し、学生の語彙力や文法構造の使用を向上させることを目指します。クラスでは積極的な学習とクラスディスカッションを奨励し、自信と流暢さを向上させることを目指しています。学生は同僚や講師から即座のクラスフィードバックを期待でき、また、講師からメールでより詳細なフィードバックを個別に受けることができます。
到達目標Goal
Students will learn and develop academic writing skills in English.
Students will improve their English writing skills and will be able to describe people and places in text.
Students will be able to write short, coherent passages in English using complex vocabulary and varied grammatical structures.
Students will be able to write texts which express and justify their opinions in English.
Students will be able to verbally express themselves in English with some fluency.

In this class we will complete activities from textbooks and discuss texts and topics the textbook introduces. This class prioritises active learning, such as debate and discussion. Homework writing assignments will be set from the textbook based on class topics. Students are expected to spend 4 hours a week completing homework, revising material from previous lessons and preparing for upcoming lessons. Homework may be submitted to the teacher via email.
