Outline (in English)

In this seminar, students learn about the relationship between information systems and human society. In particular, students acquire an understanding of information systems that support people's activities through reading related publications. In addition, students develop practically techniques to analyze and evaluate data obtained from information systems.

The goals of this course are to enable students to do the followings about information systems in society:
(1) To learn how to read literature,
(2) To be able to conduct literature research and collect data,
(3) To understand the methods of data analysis and evaluation,
(4) To specify research themes,
(5) To be able to explain research themes.

There will be activities outside of class to build on the practice. Work such as software development and preparation of report materials must be done outside of class hour. In addition, students are expected to proceed with other actual work depending on their own progress. Students are expected to actively participate in study groups held on weekends and during long vacations to improve their skills. Including these, the preparation and review time for this exercise is at least 2 hours each.

Grades are assigned as follows:
Active participation in seminar activities (50%): Students are able to conduct literature surveys, collect, analyze and evaluate data. To reach this goal, students should be able to make progress reports and discuss them.
Various deliverables (50%): The students should be able to specify their research theme and explain it to others. For this purpose, they should be able to develop software and report materials.
