Outline (in English)

This course is a continuation of Dr. Brown's Seminar 1. Building upon the skills developed in Seminar 1, we will go deeper into social issues of homelessness and poverty. In particular, we will learn about these issues in the US and UK and compare them with Japan's situation. We will also do some volunteer work with Akiramenai and/or Hitosaji no Kai and help the homeless in Tokyo

Students in Seminar 3 will work on their graduation theses and will not be required to attend class on a regular basis. They will, however, be expected to give progress reports to the class on occasion. Additionally, students will need to arrange private meetings with me to discuss their research and receive feedback. Seminar 3 students will also participate in a "Writing Camp" over the summer break.
