This course is designed for students at a CEFR B1 level.
Students will focus on skills necessary to increase competency and mastery in essay writing skills.

The goal of the course is to equip students with the grammatical and structural knowledge necessary to increase their competency in writing essays.

The course will include short lectures, self-study and essay writing practice. All feedback and correspondence for assignments will be done through Google Classroom and through face-to-face assignments.

Examining the structural elements of the body and conclusion of an essay.

Looking at transition words and their importance in connecting thoughts
Week 55[対面/face to face]:Essay template
Studying the overall template needed to write a clear essay
Week 6[対面/face to face]:Essay topics
Stepping the through process of topic selection
Week 7[対面/face to face]:Position in a topic
Creating a position on a topic
Week 8[対面/face to face]:Thesis statement
Articulating a concession thesis statement based on topic and position.

Analyzing and refining the thesis statement.

Analyzing basic elements of paragraph structure

Homework will be assigned for some classes. Homework will be checked at the beginning of the next class. Class projects will also need preparation outside of class time. The standard preparation and review time for this class is approximately 2 hours.
