Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
The objective of this course is to enable students to develop their own perspectives (or "isms") and express them by objectively analyzing how sports events are portrayed in the media, including both text and images, and examining the impressions they create on readers or viewers, as well as the societal impacts they generate. Through this analysis, students will gain insight into how media representation of sports phenomena influences public perceptions and societal dynamics, thereby fostering the ability to articulate their own ideologies.
【Learning Objectives】
The goals of this course are:
A) To develop the ability to observe sports from various perspectives, accurately understand their background, and discern their essence.
B) To enhance judgment and expressive skills based on media literacy.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Review what you have learned in each lecture. Checking sports news regularly. Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend two hours to understand the course content.
【Grading Criteria /Policy)】
Classroom participation (20%), in-class reports and assignments (30%), and
Creating an article (50%).
