Outline (in English)

1.Course outline
This is an introductory computer literacy class and students learn the basics knowledge of information processing technology.This class is aimed at learning information processing such as computer, networks and its operation.Students acquire the knowledge and skills various media, which would benefit them in various occasions.

2.Learning Objectives
To acquire basic knowledge of computers and information processing in order to enhance the basic ability to utilize information. They will understand computers and other devices and how the Internet works.
Acquire and be able to utilize basic operations of sending and receiving e-mail.
While learning the basic operations of word processing software, students will also learn the editing operations necessary for creating various types of documents such as reports and papers, as well as written expression.
Acquire basic skills to make effective and persuasive presentations using presentation software.
This course provides the basic security and information ethics contents, which is essential to utilize the internet safely.

3.Learning activities outside of classroom
・Students are expected to read the materials prior to the lecture. The content of each lecture is based on the material.
・Assignments will be made to confirm understanding of the operations reviewed in the lecture.
・Some topics, like morals and ethics in handling information, are not covered in the classroom, and reference text is provided for them. Please check them and ask any unclear points to utilize these essential items in the course.
・The standard preparation and review time for this lecture is 2 hours each.

4.Grading Criteria /Policy
Lecture grades will be based on the following two points.
1)Participation in lectures(50%)
Active participation in lectures is the object of evaluation. Five absences will not be considered for grading.
2)Submission of assignments and its contents(50%)
Students are required to prepare an assignment for each lecture and submit it. The evaluation is also based on whether the work is completed in a way that reflects the content of the instructions given in the lecture. Students will also be asked to respond to assignments to confirm what you have learned.
