Outline (in English)
The goal is to acquire the comprehensive English skills necessary for university education.
Students will not only work on improving the reception of English, but also on improving the transmission of English.
They will read and comprehend English texts logically, sometimes taking into account cultural circumstances.
They will develop the ability to use English on their own by using the information and knowledge gained from reading to communicate through presentations and conversations.

The aim of this course is to help students deepen their basic knowledge of English and to work on the skill of openly exchanging ideas and opinions in a variety of authentic contexts.

By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
-Develop fundamental skills and precision in expressing ideas in English and in
delivering presentations
-Understand various topics in a variety of written English texts
-Develop communicative skills for listening and for having discussions in
English.

教員から学生への情報、知識を提供する。さらに、与えられた情報、知識を使い、英語を使用する。プレゼンテーションを多く用いるため、講義時にも演習時にも受け身の姿勢ではなく、積極的な姿勢で臨み、間違えることを恐れずに最善を尽くすこと。
その上、英文を読みながら英単語や文法を確認し、英語表現や構成を理解することに重点を置く。ライティングの演習問題では、サンプルを参考にしつつ構成に留意して英文を書く。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
In-class and homework assignments: 30%
In class contribution: 30%
Presentation: 40%.
Students are allowed a maximum of 3 absences. More than that will result in a fail grade.
