Outline (in English)
This course deals with four basic English skills. In order to improve these skills, we will mainly do the following tasks; (1)learn the pronunciation of English to enhance listening and speaking skills (2) learn the basic skills of paragraph writing, and (3) write essays and make presentations based on the knowledge acquired.
The goals of this class are to (1) learn useful English expressions used in different contexts (2) learn how to write essays effectively, and (3) feel confident in giving presentations in English.
Students must undertake assigned homework activities and prepare for upcoming discussions, presentations and writing. Your study time will be more than two hours for a class.
Grading will be decided based on the final presentation (50%) and the essay (50%).

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
本科目の目的は、学生が自信を持って英語でコミュニケーションをとれるように英語の総合的なフォー・スキルズ（リスニング、スピーキング、リーディング、ライティング）を向上させることである。学生は効果的なプレゼンテーションの手法やエッセイの作成を通して、英語で自分の意見を発信することを目指す。
到達目標Goal
１ 学生が様々な場面で役立つ英語表現を学び、実践的なコミュニケーション能力を身につけることができる。
２ 学生はアカデミック・ライティングで用いられるパラグラフの概念を学び、パラグラフの集合体であるエッセイを書くことができる。
３ 学生が効果的なプレゼンテーションスキルを身につけ、自信を持って英語で意見を発信できるようになる。

最初に発音記号、英語特有の音声変化、リズムを指導するので、積極的に発声練習を行うこと。ペアワークを通して、様々な場面で役立つ英語表現をアウトプットしながら実践的なコミュニケーション能力を培っていく。クラスメート全員の前で実施するプレゼンテーションと期末課題のエッセイについては、グーグルクラスルームを通して全員にフィードバックを行う。

授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
授業前の予習として、テキストの単語の意味を調べ、演習問題に取り組んでおくこと。
授業後は、授業で学んだ発音や表現を実際に声に出して繰り返し練習し、プレゼン準備やエッセイの作成に備えること。本授業の予習と復習時間は各１時間を目安とする。

一方通行の授業にならないように学生が質問しやすい環境を整え、学習者の理解度に合わせた授業展開を心がけたい。また、ペアワークやディスカッションを増やし、学習者が主体的に取り組めるよう工夫したい。
