Outline (in English)
【Course outline】
This course gives you a good chance to know the cultural differences between Japanese and Americans, and will provide a key to think about the daily life in a different way.
【Learning Objectives】
Basic English grammar, vocabulary, and conversational expressions will be very helpful to communicate with each other and at the same time essential when writing, speaking and of course listening. Students will hopefully get accustomed to reading and listening to those daily English expressions.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Learning activities outside of classroom: 1 hour
Comments upon the details about the textbook, attendance rule, evaluation and so on will be made at the first class of this semester. Attendance is mandatory, and students will be expected to attend every class and hopefully enjoy their own activities. Great joy is only earned by great exertion!
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Attendance & active participation （20%）, examination （60%）, assignments （10%）, presentation （10%） will be totally evaluated.

読解問題のみならず、日常生活のさまざまな場面における実践的英語表現を通じ、コミュニケーション能力、表現力を養成する。様々な場面において使われる会話表現に十分なれる。
到達目標Goal
読解能力養成のみならず、リスニングにおける多くの練習問題を通じ、おおよその内容が理解できるようにする。またリスニング能力の増強を行う目的で、穴埋めや書き取り、選択問題などを通じ、要約能力を養う。

ビデオ教材などを使用し、平易ながらも日常会話に必要とされるさまざまな表現に触れ、リスニング、ディクテーション、読解などを通じ、いわゆる英語のフォー・スキルズを高めていく。
罹患者数の増、あるいは大学の方針にもとづくオンライン授業への変更の際には、各回の授業計画の変更なども含め、学習支援システムでその都度、提示いたします。

Film, 学期末まとめ
授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
とくにリスニング・スピーキングの上達には、毎日の練習が肝要である。授業中の練習に加え、教室外でも練習を行うことを心がける。課題は必ず行い、授業には全出席する。学生は、自らの可能性を信じ、真剣に授業に臨むことが要求される。準備学習・復習・宿題などに1時間以上を期待している。

必要に応じ適宜、指示する。
成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
定期試験（60％），レポート（10％），プレゼンテーション(10%), 平常点（20％），また授業態度などを総合的に評価する。真剣に取り組む姿勢を評価したい。
平常点：出席については、基本的に全出席を原則とする。きちんと出席し、真剣に取り組む姿勢を評価したい。
学期末試験：春学期・秋学期ともに必ず受験すること。
レポート：授業中に指示する内容にそって提出すること。

学生をどのようにしてやる気にさせるか、われわれ教員はつねにそれを試されているように思う。学生を通じ学ぶことは実に多い。少しでも彼らの望むものに応えられる授業となるよう努力していきたい。
