Outline (in English)
【Course outline】This course focuses on basic English skills needed in an academic setting. Not only receptive skills such as reading and listening but also productive skills such as writing and speaking are targeted. Students will have a good command of English by themselves if they comprehend English texts by treating them analytically and considering cultural aspects, which will be given in the lectures.
【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:
To be able to understand the main content of a wide range of topics, both in reading and listening.
To be able to express facts, situations, and opinions clearly on a wide range of topics, both in speaking and writing.
To learn about grammatical and lexical knowledge and to be able to apply them in relevant contexts.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Odd-numbered Weeks: Work on Task 1 and Task 2 in the Vocabulary, and Read the grammar explanations
Even-numbered Weeks: Work on Vocabulary, Comprehension Check, and LINGUAPORTA
Review the content in each class and improve the four skills for the quizzes

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
大学教育において必要となる英語力を身につけることを目指す。受信面の向上だけではなく、発信面向上にも取り組む。英文を論理的に、時に文化的事情を踏まえ読解し、読解時に得た情報や知識を使い、発信していくことを身につけることで、自分の力で英語を駆使できる力を養う。

2. 幅広い話題について、事実、状況、自分の意見などを明確に表現することができる
3. 文法や語彙を身につけ、適切な場面で用いることができる

○ひとつの単元を2週間に渡り学習する。奇数週はListening, Speaking, Grammarを、偶数週はReading, Writingを主に学ぶ。
○毎週伝える予習指示に従い、予習をしてくること。

授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
本授業における予習・復習の時間は各１時間以上を標準とする。週に一回100分の授業のみで、到達目標を高いレベルで達成することは極めて難しい。履修者諸君の授業時間外の努力も必要である。
予習
《奇数週》①VocabularyのTask 1とTask 2に取り組む、②Grammarの説明を読み、各文法の形と意味を確認する
《偶数週》①VocabularyとComprehension Checkに取り組む、②リンガポルタを進める
復習
語彙と文法の再確認をしておくこと。第４週より、隔週で小テストを行うためである。

学生の意見等からの気づきChanges following student comments
フィードバックの重要性やグループワークの効果を例年感じ、昨年度もその点に力を入れた。結果としては私の授業を肯定的に捉えてくれている学生が多くいたことが分かった。一方でもう少し柔軟性を持って個別の事情に対応すべきであることも分かったので、その点を改善していく。
