Outline (in English)
【Course outline】
This course is for students who are at the advanced level of Japanese to develop skills required for research in Japanese.
Students will improve their writing skills to write graduation thesis-level dissertations and to make a presentation.
【Learning Objectives】
In this course, students will be able to do the following:
(1) Learn the vocabulary, expressions, and structure used in science and engineering reports and research presentations.
(2) Write an outline of their own research and experiments, as well as a graduation thesis.
(3) Give a presentation based on the contents of their thesis.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students will be expected to complete all required assignments.
Your study time is at least one hour for each class meeting.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Grading will be decided on the basis of the following:
In-class Contribution: 20%
Assignments: 30%
Final Paper: 40%
Presentation: 10%
※No credit will be given to students who are absent more than three times.
※Students who want to take the course must attend the first and secondclass sessions. Those who fail to do so cannot take the course.
【Others】
※This class was called "Japanese for Science and Engineering 5S""Japanese for Science and Engineering 5F" until FY2023. Students who have earned credits in the past will not be able to take this class again.
※The selection will be held if the number of applicants exceeds the class size limit.

このクラスは日本語レベル上級以上の学生を対象とし、研究に必要な高度な日本語力を養うクラスです。
特に書くスキルを高め、卒業論文程度の論文を書いたり、研究発表等の口頭表現を向上させることができます。
到達目標Goal
このクラスを通じて、学生は以下のことができるようになります。
・理工系のレポートや研究発表で用いられる語彙や表現、構成等を身につけます。
・自身の研究の調査・実験の概要、卒業論文程度の論文が書けるようになります。
・論文で書いた内容をもとに、発表を行うことができます。

・アカデミックな文章作成の基礎的なルールを確認します。
・トピックとアウトラインを設定し、実際に論文の作成を行います。
・論文の内容について発表を行い、議論・推敲を行います。

＊このクラスは2023年度まで「理工系の日本語5 S」「理工系の日本語5 F」の名称でした。過去に旧クラスの単位を取った学生は、再度このクラスを取ることはできません。
＊履修希望者が多い場合は選考します。
