Outline (in English)
【Course outline】
This course is for students who are at the intermediate or higher level of Japanese to build up the skills to write a report in Japanese.
Students will improve their basic Japanese skills to understand science and engineering classes, and to write reports.
【Learning Objectives】
In this course, students will be able to do the following:
(1) Acquire knowledge and skills in basic grammar for writing reports.
(2) Learn basic vocabulary, expressions, and structures used in academic writing, especially in science and engineering reports and research presentations.
(3) Write short reports and reports on science and technology.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students will be expected to complete all required assignments.
Your study time is at least one hour for each class meeting.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Grading will be decided on the basis of the following:
In-class Contribution: 15%
Assignments: 25%
Mid-term Exam: 25%
Final Paper: 35%
※No credit will be given to students who are absent more than three
times.
※Students who want to take the course must attend the first and second class sessions. Those who fail to do so cannot take the course.
【Others】
※This class was called "Japanese for Science and Engineering 1S""Japanese for Science and Engineering 1F" until FY2023. Students who have earned credits in the past will not be able to take this class again.
※The selection will be held if the number of applicants exceeds the class size limit.

このクラスは日本語レベル中級以上の学生を対象とした、レポート作成のためのクラスです。
理工系の授業を理解し、レポート作成に必要な基本的な日本語力を向上させることができます。
到達目標Goal
このクラスを通じて、学生は以下のことができるようになります。
(1) レポートを書く際の基本的な文法の知識と技術を身につけることができます。
(2) アカデミックな文章、特に理工系のレポート、研究発表で用いられる基礎的な語彙や表現、構成等を身につけることができます。
(3) 理工系の比較的短めの報告やレポートが書けるようになります。

＊このクラスは2023年度まで「理工系の日本語1 S」「理工系の日本語1 F」の名称でした。過去に旧クラスの単位を取った学生は、再度このクラスを取ることはできません。
＊履修希望者が多い場合は選考します。
