Outline (in English)

(Read the Japanese syllabus for a full explanation.)

This class is for advanced level students. Students will learn skills for writing a paper in Japanese.

Goals:
By taking this class, you will be able to:
1. ask questions in Japanese and show evidence.
2. think critically in Japanese.
3. learn types/formats of paper and write yourself.

Students are expected to study for two hours at home to prepare/review each lesson.
Students are expected to do all assignments.
Students will be asked to submit a 10-page long paper at the end of the semester.

Evaluation:
Daily participation/performance 25%
Assignments 15%
Quizzes 10%
Mid-term exam 15%
Final exam 20%
Final paper 15%

※This class was called "Academic Japanese 2S" "Academic Japanese 2F"until FY2023. Students who have earned credits in the past will not be able to take this class again.
