Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This course is for students who have JLPT N4 or more proficiency in the Japanese language. Students will be able to learn and experience various Japanese cultures using simple Japanese. Furthermore, the purpose of this class is to enhance Japanese proficiency by summarizing and presenting what you have experienced.

【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
(1) Acquire basic knowledge of various aspects of Japanese culture.
(2) Experience Japanese culture firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of Japanese culture and society.
(3) Through cultural experiences, students will be able to improve their four Japanese language skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing.

【Learning activities outside of the classroom】
・Before the class, students are expected to check the vocabulary list for each chapter.
・After each chapter, students need to review what they have learned in class and vocabulary for the quiz.
・In each chapter, students will be required to prepare a presentation in Japanese and give self-feedback after the presentation.

※Your required study time is at least two hours for each class meeting.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Grading will be decided on the basis of the following:
・In-class Contribution: 20%
・Assignments: 50%
・Quiz: 20%

・No credit will be given to students who are absent more than three times.
・Students who want to take the course must attend the first and secondclass sessions. Those who fail to do so cannot take the course.

【Others】
※This class was called "Applied Japanese S" "Applied Japanese F" until FY2023. Students who have earned credits in the past will not be able to take this class again.

※The selection will be held if the number of applicants exceeds the class size limit.
