Outline (in English)

Psychological well-being is a concept which is defined as lives going well. It is the combination of feeling good and functioning effectively as a member of society. In this seminar, students will read books and articles about counselling and discuss issues about children’s refusal to go to schools, domestic abuse and violence, bulling (called “Ijime”), etc., which have been witnessed in recent Japanese society. Through such readings and discussions, students will learn what psychological well-being means and how we can attain it.
