Outline (in English)

The spring semester will be a hybrid of online and face-to-face classes (more than half of the classes will be conducted face-to-face). Classes other than face-to-face will be conducted in real time using ZOOM. The format of the classes will be announced via Hoppii on a case-by-case basis. You need to prepare the equipment environment so that participation in ZOOM is possible without delay.

In this course you will learn about Spanish culture and customs, while at the same time practicing and enriching your vocabulary. Each lesson will include listening to a model text, vocabulary explanation, dictation, pronunciation practice and translation training from Japanese to Spanish.

The aim is to learn about Spanish cultural practices and at the same time to strengthen the Spanish vocabulary and develop a rich expressive capacity.

Each session begins with a 10-question exercise in Spanish with classmates. This is followed by a review of the previous lesson, listening to a new sample text, vocabulary explanation, dictation, pronunciation practice and training in translating from Japanese to Spanish.

There is no homework in this class. At the end of the semester, students will write a report in Spanish on "Japanese weddings" and make an oral presentation. They will be asked questions in Spanish about the written content.

Grading Criteria:

1. Score based on the students' responses when they are pointed out in class. Also, students' attitude and active participation in class → 60

2. Points based on report and oral examination at the end of the term → 40

To prepare for this lesson, you will need to memorise the new vocabulary in the PDF sent to you each week and practice answering the 10 questions. We will review the model texts from each lesson, so you will need to read through them before coming to class. The standard preparation and revision time for this class is four hours.
